It is the <a href=\"https:\/\/earthsky.org\/tonight\/closest-mars-pleiades-conjunction-until-2038\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">closest conjunction<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/solarsystem.nasa.gov\/planets\/mars\/overview\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Red Planet<\/a> to the cluster until 2038. Just days before this moment, the planet was as bright as the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Aldebaran\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">star Aldebaran<\/a> (left), the brightest star and a red giant in the Taurus constellation (14th brightest star in the night sky), the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/earthsky.org\/brightest-stars\/aldebaran-is-taurus-bloodshot-eye\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">eye of the Bull<\/a>&#8220;. Aldebaran is about 67 light-years distant from us, about halfway from <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hyades_(star_cluster)\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Hyades star cluster<\/a> surrounding the red giant in our night sky. Deeper imaging of this region reveals also complex molecular clouds and fainter star clusters. The most beautiful &#8220;cloudy&#8221; object is, however, the large nebula NGC 1499, called &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/astrobackyard.com\/california-nebula\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">California Nebula<\/a>&#8221; (right upper corner) in the edge of the Perseus constellation. For this image, I used Canon 6D modified, Samyang 50 mm, f1.4 (nebulae), 3.5 (stars), VFFilter Night Sky, ISO 3200, 1-minute exposures of 63 minutes total time, from tripod and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vixen-astronomie.de\/produkt-sortiment\/polarie-star-tracker-reisemontierung\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Vixen Polarie mount<\/a>.
