Moon, Venus, Jupiter, and Plankton<\/p><\/div>\n

The announced celestial evening<\/a> show I tried not to miss from the Maldivian island Thoddoo<\/a>. And it was worth it. The “celestial trio” appeared very soon after sunset while people were slowly leaving the main beach and the sky was getting darker. The best show, however, started just minutes before the moonset as the bioluminescent plankton began to be very active. What a beautiful evening! Used Canon Ra, Sigma 50mm, f2.2, ISO 5000, 6s exposures (plankton images); Sigma 35mm (wide shots) and Tamron 70-200@200mm.<\/p>\n

On 23 February the situation was even nicer. One more day, one more evening, one more romantic moment. After 24 hours, the Moon moved away from the planetary duo of Jupiter and Venus and created a beautiful line with the planets. This time even cirrus clouds appeared and magnified dramatic dusk colors. I couldn’t resist and took this very simple portrait of the whole scene over a boat on the shore of Thoddoo Island again. Used Canon Ra, Sigma 35mm, f2.5, ISO 2000, 6s exposure (see in the gallery below). For wide angle sky view I used Samyang 12mm.<\/p>\n
