By the young Moon<\/p><\/div>During stay in Chile for international Fulldome expedition of ESO<\/a>, I could also get far from the observatories to see the beauties of the Chilean desert itself. One of the places we stopped for a while with Babak Tafreshi<\/a> on 10th April 2016, was close to the Miniques and Miscanti lagunas<\/a>, about 100 km south from Chajnantor Plateau<\/a>. What a horrible shame we didn’t have more time to see the wonderful lagoons itself! However, the weather was not perfect and the young crescent Moon illuminated the night scape, so I used the moment to capture at least this view. The distant peak is volcano Mi\u00f1iques<\/a>, gently quarding the two bright stars above – Alpha Centauri<\/a> (yellowish) and Hadar<\/a> (bluish one). Pink-colored Carina nebula<\/a> and two Magellanic clouds<\/a> reminded me that I was watching the trearues of the southern sky in the moment. The red airglow<\/a> was really prominent and even the moonlight was not strong enough to outshine that.
