Caused by dust particles (containing meteor dust) and ice high in the mesosphere, they become visible only at dusk and dawn when scattering light of our sun located 6-16 degrees below the horizon. Yesterday, on 23 June 2024, I enjoyed this epic view over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.obeczahradne.sk\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Z\u00e1hradn\u00e9, eastern Slovakia<\/a>, when NLC appeared late that evening. They were very bright and colorful, the colors were visible even to the naked eyes. Such colorful NLCs are a sign of the <a href=\"https:\/\/angeo.copernicus.org\/articles\/40\/407\/2022\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">specific sizes of particles<\/a> they are made of and also about the large area of which part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/spaceweatherarchive.com\/2020\/07\/29\/rare-red-noctilucent-clouds\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reddened sunlight is scattered<\/a> only. Despite the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdpi.com\/2073-4433\/15\/1\/88\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">high solar activity<\/a>, which causes lesser NLCs appearance, this year&#8217;s NLCs season seems to be fantastic!
