This year&#8217;s New Year celebration over <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Oravsk%C3%A1_Lesn%C3%A1\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oravsk\u00e1 Lesn\u00e1<\/a>, Slovakia, occurred on a moonless night with a clear sky, and just minutes after the fireworks started, an aurora appeared in the sky. What a great start to the year. So happy New Year 2025 to you all! The huge SAR red arc (<a href=\"https:\/\/spaceweatherarchive.com\/2021\/11\/22\/3308\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stable Auroral Red arcs <\/a>&#8211; a sign of thermal energy escaping into the upper layers of the atmosphere) was overshadowed by prominent aurora columns that were visible to the naked eye even above denser cloud cover. For a moment it looked like a huge candle in the sky. What a great start to 2025!
