Halmahera island for the spectacular total solar eclipse, I had incredible view from Kartika Buli over the distant tropical horizon on 2nd March 2016. Wild storm was producing beautiful flashes and the starry sky above was completely clear. This is the view when Orion the hunter was slowly diving in the storm. By watching this storm, me and my friends enjoyed the temperament of the not well known but so great place of the North Maluku. Used Canod 6D Baader IR modified, 50mm lenses, two subsequent exposures stacked together.
Storms are one of the most amazing phenomena on Earth. While staying on wonderful I would like to acknowledge support for the eclipse expedition to Indonesia which was provided by NSF grants AGS-1144913 and AGS-1255894, NASA grant NNX13AG11G to PI Shadia R. Habbal of the Institute for Astronomy, the University of Hawaii, and the use of the local government building in Maba, with help from Xavier Jubier, without whom this image would not have been made possible.
