Milešovka Sunset
Just a few days a year, there is a narrow “window” to catch this unusual view from such a distance: The Sun setting over known Czech mount Milešovka. Known for very wide views, meteorological station but also for highest rates of strong winds in the Czech Republic, Milešovka remains one of the most visited summit in the country. I was hoping for just one clear view during last year, when the Sun appears over the hill from Seč, Czech Republic, where the Milešovka mount is visible as 145,3 km distant peak. Due to change of its azimuth, the Sun can only appear three times in July and three times in May over the peak. Then the direction is completely different. Well, after the long waiting, I was finally successful on 24 July, 2026, at 8:52 pm (CEST). A bright green rim of the Sun appeared during the sunset as well. Used Nikon Z6III, 1000mm telephoto lens, 1.4x teleconverter, f10, ISO250, 1/320s exposure.
