Speared Comet Tempel
Here she comes, the periodic comet 10P/Tempel 2 returns to the Sun on 2nd August 2026. But there is more. Just last few days, the comet offered unusual view to its razor trail, a pancake of gravel-sized debris that has settled into the comet’s orbit over thousands of years. This differs from a tail, which is a young spray of fresh gas and dust in many directions. Not every comet can show such a structure, not everyone was even witness of it. So I am truly happy that I was able to capture it as the weather offered me on 21/22 July 2026, just after midnight UTC.
