This morning, on 5 August 2025, about 0:45 UTC, I was lucky to capture a nice view of the (still faint) comet C/2025 K1 ATLAS against the Milky Way in wide view with Collinder 399 (a.k.a. Brocchi’s Cluster or ‘Coat Hanger’). What a nice photo-opp! The comet itself moves very quickly in the sky as it continues on its way to the perihelion on 8th October 2025. By that time, the comet should reach up to 7 magnitude; however, it will not be visible from the Northern Hemisphere (where it will be visible from November again, but fading). I also tried to find it visually, and I succeeded with my 10-inch Dobsonian telescope. Faint, but beautiful comet! Used Nikon Z6, Tamron 70-200mm, f2.8, ISO 3200, 59x30s from Vixen GP-2 mount (tracked on stars, stacked on comet, on stars and combined then).
