14-22 March 2026
No timelapse, pure live video. No added effects, pure footage. No artificial intelligence, pure nature. And no acceleration, this is in live mode (yes, even the ending!). During the March 2026 Northern Lights Workshop in Sweden, I fully occupied the Nikon Z6III with a seemingly impossible task: To film the beauty of the aurora borealis in real time. Not to take a photo, but to film it. On video. I couldn’t describe it in words. It has to be seen. And this video will hopefully prove what I meant. Once again: No part of the video is sped up! Not even the final part. Enjoy the real video of the beauty of the Aurora Borealis in real time!
21 March 2026
On 20-21 March, 2026, bright auroras were sparked by a strong solar activity from previous days. I was lucky to enjoy the aurora from Lansjärv, Sweden. The storm painted the sky over northern Sweden in every shade one could wish for. And in the shapes of the aurora, birds, angels, even devils appeared in the sky. Fantasy!
Can there be such a colorful aurora formation in the sky, and does it resemble a large eagle? Yes! The eagle created a momentary composition of the aurora pillars overhead, while the colors were caused by a strong geomagnetic storm. During it, in addition to the usual emission of atomic oxygen (red, green), the rarer purple and blue emissions of molecular nitrogen also appeared.
Used Canon Ra and IRIX 15mm, f2.5, ISO 5000, 3s exposures.
14 March 2026
On 14-15 March, 2026, bright auroras were sparked by a strong solar wind coming from a coronal hole. With a group or participants of our workshop, we were witnessed by a wonderful auroral curtains over Torneträsk Lake, Sweden. Hours of epic aurora were seen while learning how to photograph them. Used Canon Ra and Sigma 28mm, f1.4, f2.5, ISO 4000, 3s exposures.
